This trainer angle has a 71.7% ROI

Earlier this week I wrote a piece on Ken Slack and how he’s a trainer worth following.

(Over 80 points backing his horses blind since he began training a couple of years ago.)

In the piece I mentioned that half his winners had come at Sedgefield and I wanted to drill down a bit further into that today.

Sedgefield is definitely a course that Slack targets.

As he explains, his M.O. is simple…

“Don’t be posh, go where you can win. That’s my motto.

I’ve run horses in a 0-100 at Carlisle and they’ve been well beaten, then run them in a 0-100 at Sedgefield ten days later and they’ve blown in.

It’s placing them in as bad a race as you can find. Then you’ll win races. All the big southern boys will come up to Wetherby and Carlisle and the races are 10lb harder to win.

But at Sedgefield or Catterick those boys aren’t there in the same grade of race.”

This focus is paying dividends.

At Sedgefield his horses win more than 1 in 3 and place over half the time.

The stats…

51 runs – 18 wins – 35.3% strike rate – 71.7% ROI
51 runs – 29 places – 56.9% strike rate – 44.4% ROI

The very impressive ROIs are worked out to SP so there’s even more profit to be had at BOG or BSP.

The next Sedgefield meeting is on 23rd Feb so make sure you keep a look out for any Slack runners.

It’s been another great day for Elite Ratings System with another two winners…
