The situation stinks but I guarantee nothing will happen

Earlier this week I was looking forward the the Altior v Top Notch showdown in the Silviniaco Conti Chase today at Kempton.

And then of course we had the “incident”.

I first heard about the news from Snowy on Wednesday.

He wrote:

“I was going to mention what’s gone on in the past 24 hours or so with Altior and the irregular betting patterns surrounding his participation on Saturday.
All I will say is, for a horse like him, to drift from 1/4 out to 5/2, whilst his stable companion Top Notch was being supported for the same race, with no news breaking for a few hours, well it doesn’t look good if you ask me anyway.

It’s nice to have an edge on the bookies, by working out all the potential angles etc etc but that was bordering on ridiculous, in my opinion.
I could say an awful lot more but will just leave it at that.”

Altior was subsequently pulled from the race but not before the BHA had called on trainer Nicky Henderson to clarify Altior’s participation “in the interests of fairness and transparency”.

Nicky Henderson has a very close relationship with Unibet remember.

The whole situation stinks.

Even Henderson admits there’s nothing wrong with the horse.

He said:

“The BHA vet came to see him this morning and totally agrees with me that the horse is fit, sound and ready to run, but obviously he doesn’t know the horse as well as we do and appreciates we might have seen a difference in him over Monday and Tuesday.”

In my mind the bookies continued taking bets on a horse they knew wasn’t going to run and Henderson and his mates have had a fistful on Top Notch at inflated prices.

I’d be interested in hearing your views on this situation. Just hit reply to this email and let me know what you think.

P.S. It’s tough enough beating the bookies without all these shenanigans. That’s why it pays to have a professional tipster in your side.

And that’s why I recommend you place the same bets that Snowy does.
