If it is soft or heavy at Cheltenham this stat could be VERY important

By on February 29, 2020

Time for another in the Cheltenham trends/stats series.

This time the stat comes from the great Josh Wright over at Racing To Profit.

Josh has uncovered a very useful bit of information that will be very important if the going at Cheltenham is either heavy or soft.

Here’s the scoop:

There have been 66 races run ‘officially’ on said going since 2007.

Those horses that were IRISH TRAINED:

38 winners (58% of races) from 32% of runners.

Handicaps: 52% race winners (12/23) from 28% of runners.

Very interesting stat that.

If it is soft or worse underfoot the Irish trained horses need to be respected!
