3 tips for the Betway Lincoln Handicap

By on March 31, 2017

The Betway Lincoln is the first major big field turf handicap of the season.

But with a maximum field size of 22 runners it’s a toughie for punters to navigate.

Below are some key trends, courtesy of Ben Aitken, that help narrow down to a shortlist of three.

ALL of the last 12 winners (renewals at Doncaster only) fitted the following trends…

Aged 4yo, 5yo or 6yo.

No more than 1lbs lower OR than last race.

Previously won at least at C3 level but no higher than Listed level.

Ran over at least 1m previously but no further than 1m6f.

4-10 starts in last 12 months.

2-25 previous Handicap starts.

No more than 4 starts since placing.

Jockey claim no higher than 3lbs.

Ran over 7f – 1m2.5f last time out.

DSLR 121-215 (UK starts only – races abroad not included).

Applying those stats to this year’s runners leaves us with…

DONNCHA (R Eddery)

OH THIS IS US (R Hannon Jnr)

Good luck to those having a bet. It’s a tough race to navigate!

If you’d like someone to do all the hard work for you this flat season I recommend Dave Walton over at Flat Specialist.

All of last year’s bets were proofed to me in advance so I can confirm their accuracy.
