Oh the humanity!!

I was reading Andrew David’s column a couple of days ago and he mentioned a story I had completely missed.

It’s another story about bookmakers wanting to have their cake and eat it.

It concerned an independent bookie called Geoff Banks who’s been a prominent  figure in bookmaking for the past 20 years.

A few weeks ago he lodged a complaint with the Gambling Commission.

And what atrocity had him so up in arms that he went running to the Commission I hear you ask?

Matched bettors signing up to his company to get the free bets and then laying them on Befair for a guaranteed profit.

Oh the humanity!!

Poor old Geoff is at his wits end and he wants free bets inducements banned.

He says…

“I don’t approve of free bets or bonus offers. From a gambling perspective I think it’s an unfair inducement to gamble.”

Oh, so hang on a minute.

He doesn’t want them banned because he makes no money from matched betting customers.

He wants them outlawed because it will unfairly induce people to gamble.

Cheers for the free laugh Geoff.

I’ll be amazed if he was able to say that with a straight face.

I had a quick look through his twitter feed and it contained a few more gems…

“The practice of free bets needs to be outlawed.”

And then without a hint of irony a couple of tweets later…

“Get up to £50 in Free bets with Geoff Banks + up to 10% cash back on your losses every week!”

Followed by…

“We reward loyalty and custom.”

But only if you’re a losing punter eh Geoff?

And finally…

“We return our members with up to 10% cash back on their losses weekly. Its only fair.”

Yeah you’re a real man of the people Geoff.

Bookmakers literally have one of the best business models around.

And as far as I’m concerned matched bettors are just a slight annoyance they have to put up with.

It’s not all bad news though.

You can use bookmakers to your advantage.

If you place bets using bookmaker signals you can find some nice priced winners.

That’s the secret behind the Smart Money Punter system I spoke about yesterday.

It’s a system I’ve been testing out for a few weeks now and I like it a lot.

Yesterday it found a 16/1 second place and winners at 7/1 and 6/1 amongst others.

If you’d like to get your hands on this system then you can read more about it here.
