“He did it all wrong…”

By on April 16, 2017

Well what a cracking race that was.

I’m of course referring to the Ryanair Gold Cup Chase at Fairyhouse where Road To Respect beat Yorkill by a neck.

As I mentioned earlier today Yorkhill was clearly the classiest horse in the race but his tendency to jump left could give it a problem.

And so it proved.

Winning trainer Noel Meade summed it up perfectly…

“The other horse (Yorkhill) did it all wrong and we benefited from that.”

I certainly wasn’t going to back Yorkhill at that price but I wasn’t brave enough to oppose him either.

I hope some of you were braver than me.

I honestly don’t see the point in running this horse on right handed tracks.

It’s obviously a problem that can’t be corrected.

I do wonder if in this situation a jockey can do anything to encourage the horse to jump straighter (stronger handling, adjusting jumping position etc)?

What do you reckon?

Still it made for a fantastic race that I thoroughly enjoyed.

A few yards further and Yorkhill would have caught him.

Remember if you want to try out Steady Steve O’s service it will cost you just £1 here.

But the £1 trial ends tomorrow so you’ll have to be quick.
